Sacred Reich is an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona. It was formed in 1985, characterized by social and political subjects. His name, which could be misinterpreted, has nothing to do with Nazi ideology. After releasing several albums on Metal Blade Records, they signed at Hollywood Records in 1991, then returned to Metal Blade in 1996. The band split in 2000. From May 30 to June 28, 2009, Sacred Reich went on tour in Europe .
The band was formed in 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona, by bassist and vocalist Phil Rind, guitarists Jeff Martinek and Jason Rainey, and drummer Greg Hall. They record their demo in "> Draining You of Life in 1986. The demo is popular at the national level, thanks to Jason Newsted. The song Ignorance is published in the compilation Metal Massacre, and this participation earns them a signature at Metal Blade Records, directed by Brian Slagel. In 1987, the band released their first studio album, Ignorance . After the release of the EP in 1988, the group recorded the demo Draining You of Life which includes a cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs , thanks to which the band really draws interest of the general public. The album follows a world tour. In 1988, the band toured the United States with Atrophy and Forbidden. It is followed by another tour with Motörhead in Europe.
In 1989, they return to Europe with Forbidden. In the same year, the group recorded its appearance at the Dynamo Open Air for the release of the live album Live at Dynamo . Meanwhile, and now with the Enigma Records label, Sacred Reich releases his second studio album, entitled The American Way in 1990. In early 1991, the drummer Greg Hall leaves the group, and is replaced by Dave McClain. They then make a tour with Sepultura, a date in Paris at the Élysée-Montmartre in May 1991.
After the closing of Enigma Records, the band migrated to Hollywood Records, where, at the end of 1991, they released the single A Question , followed by a third studio album, titled Independent, in 1993. At this time, the band includes guitarists Arnett and Rainey and drummer Dave McClain. They play concerts in the United States with Pantera and Danzig. At the end of their contract at Hollywood Records in 1994, the band remained particularly silent in 1995. The band resumed Black Sabbath's song for "> Sweet Leaf the album Hempilation. They also feature Judas Priest's Rapid Fire , which also features Rob Halford singing. However, this recording is unpublished until today. After the band's return to Metal Blade Records, the album Heal was released in 1996. In late 1996 founding member Greg Hall returned. Sacred Reich performed in his hometown of Phoenix in December 1996, recording the live album Still Ignorant , released in 1997 on Metal Blade.
