Silbermond

Silbermond is a German pop rock band from Bautzen, Saxony. Together with Wir sind Helden, Juli, Ich + Ich and many other musicians, they are part of a new German "new wave".

Members of Silbermond ("Silver Moon" or "Silver Moon") met on the occasion of a musical project for youth in 1998. After two years and several recording sessions, Johannes Stolle (bassist), Andreas Nowak (drummer), Stefanie Kloß (vocals), Thomas Stolle (guitarist and cousin of Johannes) decided to found the group JAST (this name is made up of the initials of their four first names). They had some English compositions to their credit, but their repertoire consisted mainly of covers of songs known during the first five months. They are the first ones they participated in three competitions and helped them win prizes. Dissatisfied with their English texts, the group resolved to compose from now on in their mother tongue.

It was in the autumn of 2001 that Silbermond produced his first songs in German. To support the Puhdys during their tour, Silbermond accompanied them in May 2002 and presented their repertoire to a wider audience. A month later, PSR radio accompanied them on the occasion of its tenth anniversary - a tour that culminated in a concert in front of a crowd of more than 50,000 spectators.

On April 7, 2003, they signed a contract with the BMG> label. Expecting to intensify their success, the group members moved to Berlin. In January of the year 2004, Silbermond supported Jeanette Biedermann during her tour and, in March, the four published their song Mach's dir selbst !. Their debut album Verschwende deine Zeit is recorded in cooperation with producers Ingo Politz and Bernd Wendlandt who had previously worked with Bell, Book und Candle, and Angelzoom. The CD was very successful, as evidenced by the positions in the charts and the prizes that the group has won.
