Thunderstone

Thunderstone is a Finnish power metal band from Helsinki. The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist Nino Laurenne. After the release of their eponymous album, the band is touring Europe in support of Stratovarius and Symphony X>. Thunderstone publishes its first four albums on the Nuclear Blast label; however, their album Dirt Metal was released in October 2009 at Sony Music>. In 2016 released the album Apocalypse Again.

Thunderstone was formed in early 2000 by former speed / thrash guitarist Antidote, Nino Laurenne, as a side project; his first demo is recorded at Sonic Pump Studios. Laurenne then recruits former Antidote member Titus Hjelm on bass and chorus, Pasi Rantanen on vocals, and Mirka Rantanen on drums. In the summer of 2001, Kari Tornack joined the keyboards, and Thunderstone became a quintet.

With a demo in circulation, the group attracts the interest of the Nuclear Blast label at the end of 2001 with which they sign shortly thereafter. Thunderstone publishes his first album, the eponymous Thunderstone, in 2002. Recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki (with Laurenne as guitarist, producer, and sound engineer) and mixed by Mikko Karmila (Children of Bodom, Amorphis) at Finnvox Studios (Sentenced, Moonspell, Stratovarius), Thunderstone finishes the year in several "top metal albums in 2002" . Thunderstone returns to the Sonic Pump to record a second album, The Burning , which reaches the 13> place of the Finnish rankings>. The band enters the studio again at the end of 2004 and starts working on their third album, "Tools of Destruction". The album is again recorded at Sonic Pump Studios. The song Tool of the Devil reaches the third place of the Finnish rankings>. In February 2005, the group announced tour dates with Hammerfall and Lordi from April 21 to 24, 2005 in Switzerland and Germany. They also announce their participation in festivals from June 7th to July 16th in Finland>.
