Axxis

Axxis is a German traditional power metal and heavy metal band from Dortmund in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Axxis has a total of 12 studio albums, a live album, a cover album, and a large number of touring CDs, during their tour with Black Sabbath, acoustic sets in Japan, their many singles, as well as participations in various albums.

Axxis was formed in 1988 as a power metal band, headed by singer Bernhard Weiß and keyboardist Harry Oellers, composers and producers of the group. The Dortmund group signs its first contract after sending a demo of a single song in 1988 to EMI Electrola. In 1989, Axxis won the hearts of the public with his first studio album, Kingdom of the Night , which sold 150,000 copies, and became a record for a group of German hard rock.

Their second album, Axxis II , released in August 1990 and produced by the EMI Records label, has a similar success, ranking at the 32> place German charts> and is the subject of rather positive criticism in the specialized press >>>>>. For this album, keyboardist Harry Oellers joins the band.

Then, a year later, the live album Access All Areas . The Big Thrill also reaches the musical rankings and becomes a turning point in the band's life as the group's first international production, produced by Joey Balin and recorded in Philadelphia. Thus, the following year, the group begins an international tour. Japan is one of the most rewarding destinations for the group. Bernhard Weiß and guitarist Walter Pietsch give a series of acoustic shows to promote the release of the Japanese special edition of the CD Profile . The album Matters of Survival is, meanwhile, produced in 1995 in Los Angeles by Keith Olsen (Fleetwood Mac, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Scorpions) >. Their impression of Los Angeles is responsible for choosing the title of the album. Axxis sees itself more as a stage group. Their performance at the famous Rock am Ring (biggest German outdoor festival) makes a very good impression and marks a real highlight of the period 1994-1996.
