Lordi

Lordi is a Finnish heavy metal band from Rovaniemi. Formed in 1992 by Mr. Lordi, the singer, songwriter and costume designer, the band has its own genre of music considered as "monster hard rock"> because they develop aesthetics and imagery particular in relation to the theme of monsters. The group is known for making all its public appearances disguised as monsters, as well as for its victory at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.

Lordi owns three products in his name: Lordi Cola, Lordi Candy and Lordi Firecrackers. Mr. Lordi has appointed an area of the market square, in the center of Rovaniemi, Lordi Square.

The concept of Lordi is born, while Mr. Lordi is only 18 years old. The idea of this project is closely linked to two vocations of Mr. Lordi: rock and metal of the 1980s and cinema. He is studying cinema in Rovaniemi> where he specializes in make-up and storyboards for commercials and short films>. He has to choose between music and cinema and he finally chooses the music thinking to be able to flourish more than in the realization of commercials. At the very beginning, Mr. Lordi conceived the project as a solo project, since he played all the instruments, calling from time to time some musicians playing guitar solos or bass.

In 1997, guitarist Amen joined the project, followed by keyboardist Enary and bassist G-Stealer. It is from this moment that the activity of the group will really begin. In 1999, G-Stealer left the band and was replaced by Magnum and Kita joined the band as drummer. The five-member combo now reunited, Lordi records and sends his first demos to several labels that will for the most part refuse to sign a contract to the group.
