Maybeshewill

Maybeshewill is a British rock band from Leicester, England. Their music is characterized by the use of electronic elements alongside the classical instrumentation of a rock band and pushed to experimentation. Some tend to characterize them from math rock group. The group separates in 2016.

Maybeshewill is the brainchild of three boys, a girl, computers and their imagination. The band is composed of James Collins (drums), John Helps (guitar), Robin Southby (guitar) and Victoria Sztuka (bass). They also very often use computers to play. Maybeshewill is written well with a capital M and without space. It is indeed one word, not three. They call themselves that because they like the sound of the word and not for the meaning that the constituent elements of the name of the group might have. There is absolutely no sense to draw from the members of the group. They are often compared to 65daysofstatic or A Silver Mt. Zion.

Maybeshewill is formed by guitarists Robin Southby and John Helps while studying at De Montfort University in 2005>. They record their first album, Japanese Spy Transcript, on their own label, Robot Needs Home Records, in 2006 with Tanya Byrne on bass, and Lawrie Malen on drums. The four-track EP is well received by the press and attracts the attention of local label Field Records (Public Relations Exercise) which will release The Paris Hilton Sex Tape (taken from the album) as a single 7 "with Ann Arbor later in In August 2006, a remastered version of Japanese Spy Transcript was released in Japan on the XTAL label (Yndi halda and You Slut!).> Shortly thereafter, the band split temporarily.

In May 2007, John and Robin team up with drummer James Collins (ex-Fight Fire with Water) and bassist Andrew Jackson on an album called Not for Want of Trying. The album is released on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Field Records, and is selected by DJ Huw Stephens of BBC Radio 1 as the album of the week. The Paris Hilton Sex Tape is also on the cover of Rock Sound magazine in June.
