Metalium

Metalium is a German power metal band from Hamburg. Formed in 1999 and separated in 2011, the band played traditional power metal in the vein of Helloween and Blind Guardian.

The band is made up of bassist Lars Ratz (formerly Viva, Zed Yago, Velvet Viper)>, singer Henning Basse (formerly Burgeon Street, Brainstorm)> and new guitarist Matthias Lange. They later recruited Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery and drummer Mike Terrana on a European tour. The five musicians are working on a science fiction / fantasy-oriented, concept-oriented, speed-metal-oriented concept album for the new millennium. The story focuses on Michael, a metal fan, who drinks a magic potion and becomes the invincible Metalian warrior. Metalium's first album, Millennium Metal - Chapter One, was released in 1999, and is well received in Germany, reaching 78> place of local music rankings >>>>>>>.

The success of the first album maintains the band's activity, as well as the main character of the Metalium saga that follows>. Jack Frost and Mark Cross replace Caffery and Terrana respectively for the second album, State of Triumph - Chapter Two, published in 2000. Frost and Cross leave the band at the end of 2001, leaving Lange as the only guitarist in the studio; the group recruits Michael Ehré in time for the drums for Metalium's third album in 2002>. Also in 2001, the band releases a DVD / video titled Metalian Attack that includes a 7-song live CD and a full Metalium comic book illustrated by Markus Mayer. In the following years, the group toured Europe, Russia and South America, thus assuring its presence in several major festivals. Metalium publishes six more albums until 2009 and a second live DVD titled Metalian Attack pt. 2 in 2006 >>>>>>>>>.

On September 13, 2010, the group announces its dissolution for 2011>.
