Outkast

OutKast is an American hip-hop band from Atlanta, Georgia. His musical style is a mix of Dirty South, G-funk, soul, neo soul, rock, crunk, RnB and jazz. It consists of rappers Andrew "Andre 3000" Benjamin (formerly Dre) and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton>. A popular and acclaimed hip-hop band, he popularized the Dirty South genre in the 1990s, mixing genres such as funk, soul, psychedelic music, techno, gospel and jazz >>>>>. He maintains an experimental approach in his music and is widely commended for his originality.

OutKast is one of the most successful rap bands, having sold more than 20 million copies of its six albums including the famous lang = "en"> Speakerboxxx / The Love Below , a double album containing a solo album of each member of the duet. Speakerboxxx / The Love Below is one of the four rap records certified diamond disc in the United States (over 10 million units )>.

Benjamin and Patton meet in 1992 at the supermarket in Lenox Square. Both live in East Point Atlanta and study at Tri-Cities High School>. During classes, Benjamin and Patton participate in battles at their cafeteria. Benjamin's parents are getting divorced, and this first one is living with his father. In the meantime, Patton has to move in with his four brothers and six sisters from Savannah to Atlanta. Benjamin and Patton finally team up with Organized Noize, a local producer group later known for hit singles composed for TLC. The duo initially seeks to be called 2 Deep Shades or The Misfits, but seeing that these names are already taken, borrow the name OutKast, based on the English word outcast a synonym for misfit in the dictionary. Together with Organized Noize and Goodie Mob, they formed the Dungeon Family, in reference to the winery (dubbed the Donjon) which they had transformed into a studio. At the age of 17, the Outkast members sign a contract on the record label La Face Records, and make their debut on the remix What About Your Friends from TLC>.

OutKast signed to the label LaFace Records in 1992. In 1993, the duo released their first single, "Player's Ball" , a "funky" sound track, which an immediate success ranking first in Hot Rap Songs for six weeks>. In 1994 OutKast released his first studio album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik . With this title, André 3000 and Big Boi claim their southern origins and their "music for Cadillac". The second part of the album is Git Up, Git Out , featuring Goodie Mob. They already contrast with the gangsta rap of the time because this title decries the status of African Americans in the South of the country. The following year, the duo wins the Source Award for the best revelation rap of the year.
