Pierce the Veil is an American rock band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the group is founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes. Pierce the Veil has a total of four albums and continues on the international scene since the release of their album, A Flair for the Dramatic in 2007. Their fourth and last album, Misadventures, is released on May 13, 2016.
The group Pierce the Veil is formed by Mike and Vic Fuentes following the separation of Before Today (formerly called Early Times), the latter having made its debut in 1998. Their first album, entitled No Turning Back, composed of 11 tracks is quickly aired throughout the local scene. This album is followed later by a four-track EP. This maxi has been successful, the band goes directly with another EP called Roots Beneath Ideals, and has a reputation pure and hard. This EP is finally released by Steve Reddy of the music label Equal Vision Records, which hires the band after seeing them play in San Diego.
At the beginning of 2006, a year after their last composition, the band split up and Mike, along with his brother Vic Fuentes, as the last remaining members of the band, send Joe Tancil (on guitar) and Mitchell Ballatore ( on the bass). The two brothers continue to write their compositions and finally get enough musical material to compose a new album. Through their Equal Vision Records label, they compose and record an independent album in Seattle with producer Casey Bates. The two brothers release their album A Flair for the Dramatic on June 20, 2007 under a new name: Pierce the Veil, derived from a title of the album A Celebration of an Ending by the predecessor group, Before Today. Soon after, Pierce the Veil hires two new members - Tony Perry (on guitar) and Jaime Preciado (on bass). The music I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous from the album is broadcast in the game Tony Hawk's Proving Ground.
Pierce the Veil toured three months after the release of their album A Flair for the Dramatic. They are touring with bands such as A Day to Remember, Chiodos, From First to Last, Emery, The Devil Wears Prada and Mayday Parade. In November 2007, Pierce the Veil made a short appearance at the 2007 Vans Warped Tour, and toured again in 2008.
