Les Plastiscines is a French pop band composed solely of women and part of the New French rock scene. They have three albums to their credit: LP1, About Love and Back To The Start. Group formed on the school benches, they reach notoriety after their first album LP1>.
The name Plastiscines comes from a phrase from a Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds: "plasticine porters with looking glass ties" .
They are influenced by bands of the new generation like The White Stripes and The Strokes, but also by older bands like Blondie and The Ramones. They are part of a pop vein.
Katty Besnard (vocals / guitar) and Marine Neuilly (guitar) meet each other for a second time at Mansart High School in Saint-Cyr-l'École. Both note that they have the same musical influences (The Strokes, The Ramones and The Libertines) and decide to set up a band. Marine buys a guitar and they start the rehearsals at Katty, then Zazie Tavitian (drums) adds to the duet. It was in November 2004 during a concert of Les Libertines that the three girls met Louise Basilien (bass guitar) who became their bass player.
