Presidents of the united states of america

The Presidents of the United States of America , often abbreviated PUSA , The Presidents or Pot USA , is a group American alternative rock, from Seattle, Washington. It is formed in 1993 and separates in 2016. For 23 years of existence, the group has a total of six studio albums.

Bassist Chris Ballew and guitarist Dave Dederer are classmates who have played in several rock bands in the Seattle area. Jason Finn, the drummer of Skin Yard, then Love Battery, joined them in 1993 >>>. They adopt their name after a concert during which Chris Ballew introduced them to the public as "The Presidents of the United States of America".

In 1994, the Presidents sign with the small local label PopLlama Records and publish his first album the following year. The band also releases a limited edition blue vinyl single, Fuck California, at C / Z Records.

Their success took the record industry by surprise, but eventually they were signed by Columbia Records, which reissued their record in 1995. He is named for a Grammy. The album ranks 6> of the Billboard 200> and 14> of the British charts>. Sold two million copies, it is certified "platinum double disc". The singles Lump and Peaches, which are extracted, respectively reach the 1> and 8> place of the Alternative Songs ranking, which lists the most popular titles on American radio stations broadcasting alternative rock>. Lump is in the Top 30 of Billboard Hot 100. Both titles are also hits in the UK, where they rank 15> and 8> of the UK Singles Chart>. The album is triple platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America>.
