Smokie , originally spelled Smokey , is a British rock band from Bradford, Yorkshire, England.
Originally called The Yen, then The Sphynx, and later Essence, the band was formed in 1965.
In 1989 released Boulevard of Broken Dreams (seven weeks ranked first of the Norwegian charts> all songs are produced by Simon Humphrey, except for Young Love, which is produced by Dieter Bohlen), Whose are these Boots? (1990, first in Norway)>, Chasing Shadows (1992) and Celebration (1994), which include former successes rearranged by an orchestra. The re-release of Living Next Door to Alice (Who's F ** k is Alice) reaches the third place on the UK charts.
In 2004, Smokie recorded an album, On the Wire, including eleven tracks written by themselves. In 2006, the band released the album From the Heart.
