The Meters is an American funk band from the 1960s and 1970s from New Orleans, Louisiana. Group founded in 1965 by pianist and singer Art Neville, guitarist Leo Nocentelli, bassist George Porter Jr. and drummer Joseph "Zigaboo" Modelist. It was this quartet that performed in June 1973 in Paris, Salle Pleyel and at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John.
