The Yeah yeah yeahs

The Yeah yeah yeahs Yeah Yeah Yeahs is an American rock band from New York. Their musical style is a mix of retro styles with heavy rock / post-punk guitars, artificial sounds, screams and bluesy vocals, halfway between Blondie and Siouxsie and the Banshees >>>.

The band formed in 2000 in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn when Karen O and Nick Zinner met in a New York bar. The band released their first album in 2003 after long skimming the New York concert halls. They write together folk / acoustic songs. They then call a former school friend Karen, Brian Chase (drummer).

In early 2001, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recorded a five-song EP, commonly known as The Bang! EP, at Teel's Funhouse studios in Manhattan. In March, the band plays in Austin, Texas at a festival; their electric show and the exploits of Karen and her friend / stylist Christian Joy make them one of the local pages. In March 2002, the band toured Europe for the first part of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. At the end of 2002, the NME proclaims EP # 2 in their singles of the year.

Back in Brooklyn, the YYYs begin recording their first album. It takes longer than expected and they are forced to cancel their dates at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. They return with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Sleater-Kinney in September / October, YYYs have now finished their album Fever to Tell mixed by Alan Moulder in London early 2003. The YYYs sign at Polydor UK. The clip of the single Y Control is directed by Spike Jonze. In October 2004, released the Tell Me What Rockers to Swallow DVD, which includes clips, interviews of the group and a concert recorded at The Fillmore, San Francisco.
